Salem City Council to consider security camera, gas line, and street improvement projects

The Salem City Council Monday night will consider another proposal for security cameras in Bryan Memorial Park as well as street and gas line replacement projects.

The new proposal from Security Alarm would replace the current server handling the cameras in Bryan Memorial Park with a larger one that could add cameras on the west side of the park where a new shelter was recently damaged.   The existing server would then be moved to city hall to be used for traffic cams at Main and Broadway to identify vehicles hitting the traffic lights.

The council will be asked to approve the use of Build Illinois Funds to resurface North Jefferson from East Schwartz to East Seneff, North College from 160 feet north of West Main to West Boone, and West Boone from 200 feet east of North College to North Broadway.   The estimated cost of the work is $493,291.

The council will also be asked to approve the lone bid from USDI in Olney to remove the steel gas main on Circle Drive, Edgewood Road, Oak Tree, and Pine Tree and replace it with plastic pipe at a cost of $244,420.  The bid was well under the estimate of $366,000.

Ken Carpenter is seeking permission to relocate the Super Cruise Car Show on Saturday, September 9th, to just south of Shelter #1 in Bryan Memorial Park.

The city manager is recommending Jacob and Klein be hired as strategic and legal advisors for TIF two and three at a cost of $6,000 per TIF district plus reimbursable expenses up to $2,500.

The meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
