A car was pulled from waist deep flood water in rural Alma Monday afternoon.
Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps said one of the four occupants was not able to walk out of the water that was across the 7900 block of Brimberry Road. He reports a boat and Kinmundy-Alma Fire Department truck were both called to the scene. The decision was made to have the fire truck to pull out the car with the four occupants still inside or on top of the vehicle. Once out of the water, the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
Cripps noted the situation would have been much worse if there had been a current, but the water in the East Fork bottoms was fairly calm.
About 200 yards of the roadway was underwater at the time.
Cripps once again emphasized not to drive into flood waters across roadways as just a few inches of water can flood out a car and lead to potentially serious consequences.
