A 68-year-old Salem man escaped serious injury when losing control of his car while rounding a curve on the Selmaville Road near Red Stripe Road southwest of Salem Thursday night.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say Billy Hill of Airport Road was southbound on the Selmaville Road when he started sliding in the wet pavement from the rain storm, lost control, and ran off the south side of the road.
Salem Fire Protection District firemen were initially called to the scene, but were cancelled when it was determined there was no entrapment. Hill was checked by United Medical Response and refused hospital treatment.
The crash occurred at 7:27 Thursday night.
