Jefferson County prosecutors on Monday charged a 21-year-old Texico man with five felony charges in the aftermath of a Friday night stabbing at a rural Texico home.
Kenny Snow of Snapdragon Lane is accused of stabbing 41-year-old Joshua Marshall of the same address. Marshall was transported to Crossroads Hospital and then airlifted to a regional hospital by Air Evac.
Snow has been charged with two Class X felony charges of armed violence, aggravated battery doing great bodily harm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and criminal damage to property between $500 and $10,000. A public defender was appointed to represent him.
The initial call indicated that someone had been battered and shots fired in a domestic violence case. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department was joined in responding to the home with Mt. Vernon and State Police.
Snow had left the home prior to the officer’s arrival and was taken into custody without incident while walking on Illinois Route 37 near the intersection of Beal Road.
The sheriff’s department reports the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be filed in connection with incidents earlier in the day in Mt. Vernon.
