Illinois House Republicans are calling for real ethics reforms to be passed this Spring.
This is one of the G-O-P’s top priorities, saying it’s time to enact real reforms and end corruption in Government.
Representative Blaine Wilhour of Effingham says that should start with exposing and eliminating conflicts of interest.
“Legislators need to choose between personal profit and public service. No more politicians like Madigan or many others around here using their legislative clout to line their pockets at the taxpayers expense.”
Republicans also want to give the legislative Inspector General more power to investigate claims of fraud and abuse. They also want to further restrict retiring legislators from working right away as lobbyists to prevent conflicts of interest. Another resolution would prevent any portraits of former House Speaker Mike Madigan from being put up in the house.
