Kessler’s Late Bucket Lifts Salem To Regional Semifinals Tonight On WJBD
The Salem Lady Cats got a bucket with under 10 seconds from Freshman Jordan Kessler to give them the lead, and senior Alesia Keller finished with 20 points as Salem upset Marshall on the road Saturday 46-42. Kayla Felgenhaur scored all 10 of her points in the 3rd quarter. Salem advances to play tonight in the Flora Regional semifinals against 2nd seed Robinson at 6pm on WJBD. The 2nd game of the night will see Vandalia take on Newton.
Also on Saturday in 2a openers, Columbia got 20 from Karsen Jany in their 70-30 win over Red Bud, Greenville beat Wesclin 56-45, Roxana over Litchfield 30-23, Newton beat Flora 46-41.
Also today in 2a, at Sparta it’s Freeburg playing Pinckneyville followed by Breese Central and Nashville.
SC Knocks Off Dieterich, Will Play In Regional Semi Tonight
In Class 1a regional openers, the SC Lady Cougars advance with a 54-44 win over Dieterich. Taegan Webster finished with a game high 23 and Katilyn Swift added 14, Brooklyn Garrett had 9. They advance to tonight’s game at North Clay against St Anthony at 7pm. Also Saturday in 1a girls regional openers, Christ Our Rock got 11 from Chloe Carter in their 54-26 win over Lebanon. Sandoval lost to Dupo 47-44 in spite 20 from Makayla Dailey. North Clay eliminated Altamont 55-44.
Also tonight in 1a, Carlyle takes on the hosts at Metro East Lutheran, Woodlawn takes on the hosts at Bluford.
Annies Season Comes To An End
The Centralia Annies season came to an end as they dropped their opener on Saturday in Carbondale 36-34. Jerseyville beat Triad in other 3a games 50-37. Today in 3a at Marion it’s Mount Vernon and Carbondale followed by Marion and Herrin.
