A 34-year-old rural Odin man has been charged with two Class X felony drug charges in Marion County Court after both methamphetamine and fentanyl were found in his pickup truck.
Kirk Johnson of Page Avenue had bond set at $150,000 during his first court appearance on charges of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and unlawful possession of between 15 and 100 grams of a controlled substance. He also faces two other felony counts of unlawful possession of 15 to 100 grams of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
The discovery came after the Marion County Sheriff’s Department found the drugs after being called to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked partially in the road at Page and Soper Roads south of Odin.
After waking Johnston, deputies say they allegedly found 17.8 grams of methamphetamine and a large number of fentanyl pills in a backpack. Another container of fentanyl pills was reportedly found outside Johnston’s truck where he had apparently dropped them after police arrived. In all, 109 fentanyl pills were recovered.
Johnston had a public defender appointed to represent him.
