The Salem Wildcats fell on Senior Night to visiting Waterloo 51-45. Salem trailed late but had 2 good looks at three pointers to tie the game, but they fell off target as the Cats fall to 6-22 on the season. Connor Tennyson finished with 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting and pulled down 8 rebounds. Seth Bailey added 11 and John Tran 3 points. Senior Wyatt Fink scored 20 of his game-high 26 in the first half. 6-9 sophomore Alex Stell added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocked shots. The Cats are back in action on Friday when they travel to Wood River, before finishing the regulars season next Tuesday at Roxana. The Salem freshmen host Effingham tonight in their season finale.
Breese Central trailed 8-7 after the opening quarter at Columbia, but would come back and pull away from the top-ranked team in the state 50-39. The 5th ranked Cougars will host Columbia next week in the regular season finale.
The SC Cougars dropped their NTC game with St Anthony 60-34. Aidan Dodson led the Cougars with 16 and is now 60 points shy of the All Time Single Season Scoring record at South Central. Ethan Watwood finished with 9. The Cougars are 19-9 and will play at Mulberry Grove on Friday.
