The Centralia Tigers are champions of the Wesclin Regional knocking off Highland in last night’s finals 44-32. It’s the 4th straight regional title for CJHS. Centralia led 24-21 at the halftime break. Jaxson Hancock led Centralia with 14, Kenny Bratton 12 and James Strowder added 9. The Tigers are 16-7 and will open up the Class L State Tournament on Saturday, February 11th at 9:30 against the champion from Region 8 that will be played for tomorrow with Olney taking on Flora.
The Class M state tournament opens tonight at Rend Lake. At 3:30 it’s Goreville and Sparta followed by Pinckneyville and Joseph Arthur Middle School at 4:45, Shiloh plays Nashville at 6 and then Johnston City and Fairfield finish the night at 7:15.
The Class S state tournament opens tomorrow with 8 first round games at Rend Lake. Raccoon starts the day at 9:30 against OLMC Herrin followed by Woodlawn and Marissa at 10:45, Albers takes on St Mary’s Alton at 12, meridian and TSJ Nashville at 1:15, Central City plays St Joe Olney at 2:30, Altamont Lutheran and Bluford at 3:45, Jonesboro and Wayne City at 5 and then New Simpson Hill plays St Johns Red Bud at 6:15.
