Fire has heavily damaged a mobile home occupied by the Kelly Jones family in the 11,000 block of East Sumter in rural Dix.
Jefferson Fire officials say flames were already showing from the windows and doors before their arrival around five Tuesday night. Mt. Vernon City, Kell, Weber Township, and Wayne City Firemen were all called to the scene for mutual aid, while Woodlawn and Waltonville stood by at the Jefferson Fire station in the event of another fire.
All three occupants of the home were out upon the arrival of the fire department. They were assisted by the Red Cross.
While the fire is believed to be electrical in nature, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Firemen were on the scene for about two and a half hours.
