A 34-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been arrested on drug and weapons charges after a search warrant was issued for a mobile home where he was found hiding on Route 37 north of Mt. Vernon.

In addition to the warrant, Roberto Roman was arrested for Armed Violence, Armed Habitual Criminal, Possession with Intent to Deliver 15-100 Grams of Methamphetamine, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

Members of the Mt. Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit teamed up with members of the US Marshalls Task Force and initially went to the mobile home at 16,584 North Illinois 37 to attempt to arrest Roman on a $50,000 failure to appear warrant in an unlawful delivery of methamphetamine case.

Once entry was made to the home, multiple illegal items were observed inside the residence in plain view.  After obtaining a search warrant with the assistance of the Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s office, two illegal firearms, quantities of methamphetamine, and narcotic packaging materials were recovered.
