The Centralia Orphans opened up the West Frankfort Mid-Winter Tournament last night with an easy 63-31 win over West Frankfort. The tournament continues tonight as the Orphans will play Cairo at 6 followed by West Frankfort and Herrin.
The MTC Tournament got underway as Grayville beat Patoka/Odin 76-61. They advance to play the top-seed hosts at Christ Our Rock at 7pm. Sandoval dropped their opener to Red Hill 58-50. Red Hill advances to play 2nd seed Cisne tonight. Also today, Webber hosts Woodlawn and Wayne City welcomes Waltonville.
At the Nashville Invitational opening round yesterday, Mascoutah beat Metro East Lutheran 67-27, Nashville over Kipp 56-40, Breese Central 9-28 over Brentwood, Missouri and Mater Dei beat Marion 52-45.
At the Benton Invite last night, Vandalia beat Hamilton County 56-50, Pinckneyville over Mounds Meridian 65-43 and Benton beat Sesser 78-27.
At Okawville, Gibault opened with a 53-27 win over the host Rockets and Wesclin beat Roxana 52-34. The other 2 opening round games are tonight with Columbia and Carlyle at 6 followed by Alton Marquette and Highland at 7:30.
