Very sad day at WJBD as we grieve the sudden loss of Ted Tanner

A reflection by Bruce Kropp, WJBD-WSIQ General Manager

It is a very difficult time at WJBD as we all try to deal with the unexpected loss of our morning announcer/Production Director Ted Tanner.

Ted passed away very unexpectedly in his sleep Friday afternoon.

Ted has been a fixture at the radio station for the past 42 years, entertaining everyone in the morning, spending hours in the production room creating commercials for our clients and promotional announcements for the radio station, as well as being an integral part of our live broadcasts from community events throughout the years.

For me, this is the end of 42 years of working together on the morning show and having someone who could change ideas into creative masterpieces. It’s difficult to comprehend as Ted left the station Friday afternoon in his normal happy-go-lucky style with no signs of anything being wrong.

We are all thinking of Ted’s family as they deal with his untimely death.

A visitation for Ted will take place on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a service to follow at 6:30 pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Memorial donations may be made to Six Lemons or Charlie’s Angels and be accepted at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 N. Sycamore Street. Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)-532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Cosgrove Family.
