Jefferson Fire says a double wide manufactured home in Ina is expected to be a total loss following a late Saturday night fire.
The fire was at 204 North Elm. The home was vacant following a recent death.
An Ameren repairman was working on a power problem when he discovered the fire in a back utility room. Flames and smoke were showing through the eves upon their arrival. The fire was confined to just two rooms of the home, but had burned through the roof. The rest of the home had heavy heat and smoke damage.
While the fire is believed to be electrical in nature, the State Fire Marshal’s office was called to pinpoint the cause.
The fire call came in at 10:10 Saturday night. Firemen were on the scene for about two hours. Mt. Vernon City, Benton, and Waltonville provided assistance at the scene, while Woodlawn and Wayne City covered the Jefferson Fire Station in the event of another fire.
