Region 24 Men’s Basketball Roundup From Wednesday

John A. Logan 97; Lake Land 73

 

          Sixth-ranked John A. Logan (13-3) rolled to a 46-35 halftime lead, then expanded the margin quickly in the second half to defeat Lake Land, 97-73, in Mattoon.

 

          Six Volunteers scored in double figures led by Sean Smith who tossed in a game-high 23 points. Curt Lewis had 16 points followed by Isaiah Stafford with 12 while James Dent and Quimari Peterson scored 11 each and a ten point effort from Elijah Jones.

 

          Jahmir Tyrell, Amar Kuljuhovic and Yassen Hussein scored 14 points each for the 9-8 Lakers with thirteen points from Arnardo Camacho.


 

Vincennes 83; Lincoln Trail 69

 

          Vincennes protected its number nine ranking with an 83-69 win at Lincoln Trail.

          VU (18-1) got 18 second half points from Caleb Johnson who hit four treys and scored a game-high 25 points supported by Kris King’s 14 off the bench while Shilo Jackson had eleven.

 

          Clint Wickcliffe paced LTC (11-7) with 21 points, Chris Felix, Jr., had 15 and Greg Jenkins put up fourteen.

 

          The Trailblazers led 33-29 at halftime.


 

Olney Central 68; SWIC 66

 

          Olney Central tripped up SWIC, 68-66, in Belleville behind DelShawn Simms who buried five 3’s and scored 22 points for the 10-5 Blue Knights.

 

          Mershon Dickerson scored 12 twelve points while Jakobe Thompson had eleven.

          Jaquias Franklin led all scorers with 27 for the Blue Storm (10-6) with an eleven-point game by Jacobi Huddleston.

 

          SWIC led 36-30 at halftime.


 

Lewis & Clark 82; Wabash Valley 79

 

          Lewis & Clark built a huge first half lead, then hung on to defeat Wabash Valley, 82-79, in Mount Carmel.

 

          Nuvaun Peterson scored 19 points the 5-8 Trailblazers. L.T. White had 17 points, Ethan Worley, 16, Adrian Elliott, 11 and Armond Williams, ten points.

 

          Gary Clay paced all scorers with 26 points including four triples for WVC (9-8). Jakobi Heady scored 19 points, Ksuan Casey, 12 and Jaylen Boyd, ten.

 

          L&C led 47-26 at halftime.


 

Rend Lake 78; Shawnee 68

 

          Rend Lake was the only team to win at home Wednesday night, 78-68, over Shawnee.

 

          The Warriors (5-9) tallied 14 trifectas led by Jackson Creel with 5 treys and 20 points. Carson Prost hit three 3’s and scored 18 points while Blake McKay had three treys and scored eleven.

 

          A.K. Hazley was among five Saints in double figures with 17 points. Tray’von Thomas and Ashton Young scored 12 points each while Israel Momadu had 11 points and Tyreon King scored ten.

 

          Rend Lake led 43-33 at halftime. Shawnee dropped back to .500 with a 7-7 season record.
