Keep Salem Beautiful says some items they cannot recycle are turning up again in the recycling trailer on the Marion County parking lot in the 200 block of North Broadway.
Among the non-recyclables that have recently caused issues are mini-blinds, light bulbs, food containers including Styrofoam containers, and plastic caps.
KSB’s Rita Boudet reports two pickup truck loads of items had to be brought back from the Centralia Recycling Center where the Salem trailer is emptied that were not recyclable. Pulling out the non-recyclables are also time consuming for the Centralia Recycling Center and they will not be able to continue the sorting.
Boudet says if there is not cooperation on solving the problem, the recycling trailer will have to go back on vacation again.
