The Salem Wildcats fell in the final seconds of their game against Vandalia Saturday night, 51 to 50. Salem led the entire game until Vandalia tied it 44-44 with four minutes left in the final quarter. Vandalia was able to tie it again at 46-46 before Salem went up 50 to 46. At that point, Vandalia’s Matthew Hagy hit a 3-pointer with 1:33 left to cut Salem’s lead to one point. Tanner Robbins then hit a two-point shot with 22 seconds left to take a 51 to 50 lead. Salem was unable to get a shot off in their final possession. Salem next plays Friday night against Breese Central.
