Marion County rises to medium transmission level for COVID-19

While the number of new cases were down, hospitalizations were up putting Marion County into the medium category for COVID-19 transmission.

The weekly CDC Tracker reported 52 new or probable cases in Marion County in the week ending on Thursday.  That’s down 16 percent.  However, there were seven new hospitalizations reported during the week.

Marion County Health Department Administrator Mellissa Mallow did not release a report this week on deaths and congregated living facilities on outbreak status.

Clinton, Jefferson, Washington, and Wayne Counties are all at the medium transmission level.  Clay County is in the high category and Fayette County has dropped into the low category.

There were 61 new COVID cases reported in Clinton County this week, up five percent, and seven new hospitalizations.  Jefferson County had an eight percent drop in cases to 65, with six new hospitalizations.  Washington County saw a 17-percent drop in cases to 15 and two new hospitalizations.   Wayne County had 24 new cases, a 23-percent decline, with two new hospitalizations.

Clay County remains at the high transmission level with 29 new cases, down 29 percent, and one new hospitalization.

Fayette County is at the low transmission level with 24 new cases, down 52 percent, and one new hospitalization.
