The Centralia City Council Monday night approved a contract with Lexipol LLC to stay in legal compliance.
Centralia Police Chief Christopher Locke has worked with the program before.
“It provides up-to-date policies. The company staff of attorneys make sure our policies mirror federal statue and state statue, but also allow local policies to remain there that don’t conflict with model policies or any of the statutes. It really gives our officers a framework to work from and a foundation that is always kept up to date by Lexipol. We are really looking forward to deploying that with our department.”
Locke says the company also provides training materials including a daily training newsletter to update officers on a particular policy. There is a one-time setup charge of $22,678 with an annual fee for the first year of service at $11,310.
The council approved a $150,000 motor fuel tax program to rehabilitate and oil and chip 7.58 miles of road next year. The 2022 MFT program was amended to increase spending from $150,000 to $176,453 due to higher-than-anticipated material costs and the purchase of additional salt.
City Clerk Kim Enke reminded residents that water and sewer rates will increase by 6.9 percent on January first. The minimum two-month utility bill will increase from $81.92 to $84.68.
