Centralia City Council to set summer oil and chip program

By Bruce Kropp Dec 19, 2022 | 11:55 AM

The Centralia City Council will be asked to approve a $150,000 motor fuel tax budget for this summer’s road rehabilitation and oil and chipping program.  The program will allow for 7.58 miles of road to be resealed.

The council will be asked to pass a second resolution increasing the motor fuel tax appropriation from $150,000 to $176,453 due to higher-than-anticipated material costs and the purchase of additional salt.

A proposal is on the agenda to approve a Master Service Agreement with Lexipol, LLC to update all police policies and continuously update policies on training and procedures with state and federal laws.   The program also includes courses and training videos as well as accreditation support, wellness resources and grant services.   Police Chief Christopher Locke says the services will reduce risk and meet the training mandates of the department.   The one time set up cost is $22,678 with an annual fee for the first year of service at $11,310.

The council will also be asked to approve a resolution to declare $2,116 in water and sewer accounts as uncollectible.  The accounts will be turned over to the Illinois Debt Recovery program.

The meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
