The Salem Wildcats dropped to 1-4 on the year with a loss Saturday at the Southern Illinois Shootout in Mt Vernon to the host Rams 69-41. Salem trailed 39-16 at the halftime break, but came out in the 3rd quarter and outscored Mt Vernon 20-12 before the Rams pulled away in the 4th. Connor Tennyson led Salem with 17. Navontae Nesbit scored 18 for the Rams and was named MVP of the game. RJ King had 16. Rolen Adams had 6 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Rams. Salem returns to action tomorrow night at Mascoutah before heading to Columbia on Friday.
Christ Our Rock got 21 each from Peltes and Pryor in their 85-68 win over Waltonville. Boehne finished with 17 for the Stallions and Wuebbels added 12.
At the Kaskaskian Classic Pinckneyville won the championship beating Hillsboro 56-25. Carlyle over Nokomis in the 3rd place game 40-35, Flora was a 66-53 winner over Greenville in the 5th place game. Woodlawn won the 7th place game over Okawville 51-49.
At the Trico/Murphysboro Tournament, Murphysboro beat Carterville for the title 60-53. Red Bud over Harrisburg 68-60 in the 3rd place game. Lovejoy won the 5th place game 61-54 in overtime. In the 7th place game Chester beat Trico 55-33.
