Wildcats Fall At Home To 9th Ranked Central, Head To Play Host Rams Tonight In Mt Vernon
The Salem Wildcats fell to 1-4 on the season dropping their Cahokia Conference and home opener to 9th ranked Breese Central 68-34. Cody Dickshot led the undefeated Cougars with 16 points, Zach Schrage added 13. Salem was led by Connor Tennyson’s 11, Jairen Stroud added 8 and Sam Greene had 6.
Salem returns to action tonight when they head to the Southern Illinois Classic Shootout Series in Mt Vernon to take on the host Rams at 5:30. I’ll have the call for you on WJBD and WJBDradio.com.
The day in Mt Vernon starts with a pair of girls games with Alton and Mt Vernon tipping at 11:30 followed by Peoria and O’Fallon. Then the boys games will start with Lift for Life and Antioch Community at 2:30, Belleville East and Normal Community at 4 then following Salem and Mt Vernon, the final game will see Cardinal Ritter and O’Fallon at 7pm.
In the Cahokia last night, Columbia routed Wood River 83-52, Roxana over Piasa 37-26.
Mount Vernon won the first big matchup in the South 7 this season as they opened with a 49-42 win over 10th ranked Centralia, handing the Orphans their first loss of the year.
Cougars 3-0 With Win At Patoka/Odin
Also yesterday, South Central improved to 3-0 with their 58-34 win over Patoka/Odin. Aidan Dodson had 22 in the win, Brody Markley added 12. Owen Landreth had 16 to lead Patoka/Odin and Tyler Huffman added 13.
Stallions Knock Out Christopher
Christ Our Rock beat Christopher 52-36. Zach Wuebbels had 16 to lead the Stallions. Myles Prior added 14 and Parker Boehne finished with 13.
