Salem 5th At Capital Classic, Orphans Win Roxana Tournament, Landreth MVP of Mulberry Grove – Prep Basketball

Wildcats 5th At Capital Classic, Bailey Named To All Tournament Team

The Salem Wildcats finished off their stay at the Lawrence County Capital Classic with a win over Red Hill 60-39 to finish tournament play at 1-2.  Seth Bailey, who was selected to the All Tournament Team, led Salem with 13 and Miking Ettress added 9 off the bench.  Salem has a busy week as they travel to Newton on Tuesday, host Breese Central to open Cahokia play on Friday and then Saturday Salem will play in the Southern Illinois Shootout Series at Mt Vernon at 5:30 against the host Rams.

Olney repeated as Tournament champions beating Lawrenceville in the title game 48-42.  Mount Carmel was 3rd over Fairfield 72-33.


Orphans Finish Hoopsgiving Undefeated With Roxana Title

The Centralia Orphans are champions of the Roxana Hoopsgiving Tournament, beating Gateway Legacy in the championship 48-41.  Marquette knocked off Freeburg for 3rd place 63-55.  Carbondale beat Jerseyville in the 5th place game 55-46, Civic Memorial over Wood River 62-57 in the 7th place game.  Roxana won the 9th place game over Southwestern 50-32 and in the 11th place game, Maryville Christian beat North Greene 41-26.


Landreth Named MVP at Mulberry Grove

At the Mulberry Grove Tournament, Patoka/Odin won their 5th place game beating Lebanon 72-46.  In the championship, St Elmo/Brownstown beat Father McGivney 56-48.  Ramsey beat Mulberry Grove for 3rd place 48-36.  CHBC was 7th place winners over Mount Olive 65-31.  Patoka/Odin’s Owen Landreth was named Tournament MVP.

At the Cumberland Thanksgiving Tournament, Casey Westfield nipped North Clay in the title game 55-54.  Dieterich knocked off Cumberland in the 3rd place game 49-46.  Newton over Okaw Valley 65-58 in the consolation title game.  Vandalia took 7th place over Marshall 79-52.

At the St Anthony Thanksgiving Tournament, the Breese Central Cougars rolled through the competition 4-0 beating Teutopolis in the title game 44-33.  We will see the Cougars on Friday night at B.E. Gum when Salem opens up their Cahokia season.  Highland over St Anthony in the 3rd place game 56-44.  Robinson was 71-61 winners in the 5th place game over Rantoul.  Effingham beat Mattoon 75-59 in the 7th place game.

At the Christopher Tournament, Wayne City beat Waltonville in the championship 60-49.  Webber over Christopher for 3rd place 50-47.  New Athens was the consolation champs beating NCOE 31-30.  In the 7th place game Thompsonville beat Zeigler Royalton 57-38.

At the Eldorado Turkey Tournament, Sparta beat Carb Orchard in the championship 76-70, Marissa was 3rd place winners over Agape Christian 70-57, Cobden won the consolation title over Elverado 58-51 and in the 7th place game, Galatia beat Egyptian 59-49.

Columbia won the Wesclin/Mascoutah Tournament knocking off Collinsville in the title game 56-53 on a three at the buzzer.  Mascoutah beat Nashville in the 3rd place game 38-30.  Wesclin over Marion for 5th place 50-43.
