The Salem Wildcats won their first game of the year in taking the fifth-place game at the Lawrence Capitol Classic on Saturday. Salem defeated host Red Hill 60 to 39. Salem led all four quarters of the game. Salem was led in the game by Seth Bailey with 13 points.
Salem lost their first game on Saturday in the final pool play round to Mt. Carmel 66-31.
Salem is now 1-2 on the year and next plays at Newton on Tuesday in a game you can hear on WJBD-FM 100.1.
The Olney Tigers (3-0) defeated the Lawrenceville Indians 48-42 Saturday night to win the championship of the 33rd Lawrence County Capital Classic. Mt. Carmel beat Fairfield 72 to 33 to take third.
Earlier in the day, Fairfield beat Red Hill 72 to 44 to advance to the third-place contest.
