The City of Centralia has issued a half-million dollar building permit to Hawkins Incorporated in the Centralia Industrial Park for an extension of a rail spur to their building.

Plant Manager Jamey Lane says plans are to extend the current 300 foot rail spur another 300 feet to increase the amount of raw products they can receive by rail.   The goal is to have the spur extended by the first of the year.  He reports repairs have now been made to the original 300 feet of the rail spur and it is now in good condition.    The spur hooks to the BNSF Railroad.

The permit is the largest in Centralia’s building permit report for October.   Total construction permitted is placed at $751,412.  A total of 16 permits were issued.

Other projects include a new $100,000 home at 806 Arbor Lane.  A $38,000 permit was issued to add a storage building to Ole Lake LLC at 115 Harting Drive which is at the former WBT and Donnewald Distributing building.  Three permits were issued for solar projects at 1542 West McCord, 1936 West 7th, and 2116 North Meadow Lane.  Joe’s Pizza was issued a permit to reface two signs for their new location at 8095 Jolliff Bridge Road at a cost of $11,800.  Mission Centralia was issued permits to install ramps at a home in the 1600 block of West McCord and 700 block of East Rasback.

The city issued one demolition permit in September.  It was for a shed on the Leroy Thompson property at 1411 South Maple Street.
