SC’s Season Ends At 29-8 In Sectional Loss…Prep Volleyball Roundup

It was Sectional Semifinal night in prep volleyball.  In Class 1a, South Central saw their season come to an end at the hands of a very good NCOE squad at Webber.  SC won the opening set 25-21, but dropped the next two 19-25, 10-25 to finish their season at 29-8 on the season.  Emma Jenne had 9 kills, Sierra Arnold 13 assists and Brooklyn Garrett 12 digs.  Olivia Brauer added 12 assists and Brooke Cowger also had 9 kills.  NCOE will advance to Wednesday’s finals when they get St Anthony after their opening round win over Albion 28-26, 25-23.

Also in 1a, Windsor/Stew-Stras opened the St Thomas More Sectional with a 25-23, 25-19 win over LeRoy.  They will take on St Thomas More after their 2-set win over Decatur Lutheran.

In 2a sectional semifinals at Benton, Fairfield beat Nashville and Freeburg in 3 sets over Mt Carmel.  At Breese, Mater Dei beat Shelbyville and Breese Central over Newton setting up an all Breese final tomorrow night.

In 3a at Centralia, Taylorville beat Marion 25-19, 25-21and Mascoutah over Herrin 25-18, 25-9.

O’Fallon beat Edwardsville in 3-sets at Belleville West.  The Lady Panthers advance to the Normal Community finals and will get Moline after they beat the hosts.
