A 31-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been arrested on multiple charges after allegedly firing a handgun outside a residence in the 1,000 block of South 21st Street in Mt. Vernon on Saturday morning.
Curtis Lauer is being held for armed habitual criminal, possession of a firearm by a felon, being a felon in possession of ammunition, reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault/firearm, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Bond was set at $100,000.
Police say during their first attempted contact with Lauer, he attempted to unsuccessfully flee on foot. They were able to locate a firearm and ammunition.
There were no injuries.
