The Salem 10u returns to Lawrence County tonight for the final game of the District Tournament as they take on Olney in a winner-take-all contest, with the winner advancing to the Salem Sectional.
The Wildcats were in the driver’s seat after Saturday’s 11-0 win over Mt Carmel to get into the championship series. Tanner Purintun finished going 4-4 with 6 RBI and 2 runs scored including a home run. Isaac Knaap drove in 2 runs with an RBI each from Ben Lux, Jacob Butts and Dakota Gregg. Emmit Gibson and Butts combined to pitch in the win allowing just 3 hits.
Salem then took on Olney in the first championship game last night needing to win one time before they lost twice; they fell to Olney 13-10. Salem led 5-1 heading into the 3rd when Olney exploded for 9 runs. In the loss for the Cats, Purintun drove in 2 runs with RBI also from Gibson, Lux, Eli Purdy, Butts, Grant Squibb and Dakota Gregg.
Game time for the title game tonight in Lawrence County is 6pm.
