SC 13u Wins Stars & Stripes Bash In O’Fallon

The SC 13u Storm Chasers won their 2nd straight tournament, winning the GMB Stars and Stripes Bash in O’Fallon, Illinois.

SC knocked off Gateway Grays in the finals 12-1.  SC jumped out on top early with 5 runs in the opening inning and cruised to the victory with 7 more runs in the final 2 innings.  Sebastian Kruger led SC going 2-2 with 4 RBI, Trent Ingram was 3-3 with a run and RBI as SC also got RBI from Kaiden Harrell, Hayden Prather, Boston Isaacs and Garret Shumate.  Payton Gullion singled and scored twice and Avery Gullion singled and scored.  Luke Shumate was the complete game winner going all 5 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run.

SC dropped both pool play games on Friday and Saturday to be the last seed to start Sunday’s elimination bracket.

They opened the day with a 6-5 comeback win over Recruits Baseball.  SC trailed 5-3 heading into the final inning, before scoring 3 runs and taking the victory on a Payton Gullion diving catch to end the game and saved the game tying hit.  At the plate, Harrell drove in 3 runs with RBI from Isaacs and Garret Shumate.  Avery Gullion went 2-2 with a run and Payton Gullion scored.

SC then pounded the undefeated; top-seed Effingham Heaters in the semifinals 16-6 as they plated 11 runs in the sixth inning to break open a 5-4 game.  Luke Shumate and Ingram drove in 3 runs, Kruger went 3-3 with 2 RBI and 4 runs scored, Prather, Isaacs, Avery Gullioin, Garret Shumate and Carter Spitzher added RBI.  Isaacs was the winning pitcher going 4 innings and allowing 2 earned runs.

The SC 13u Storm Chasers improved to 27-11 and will have one more tournament left this season when they travel to Osage Beach, Missouri for the GMB World Series July 14-17th.
