Bud’s Minor League is the 2022 Salem City Series Baseball Major’s champion after a 3-2 win over Americana in Game 2 last night to finish off the series 2-0.
The game was tied at 2 in the top of the fifth inning when Jared Crompton singled home the go ahead run for Minor League. Tripp Garden also added an RBI single. Americana tied the game at 2-2 in the 4th when Kaden Cripps singled home a run.
Jax Schaubert was the winning pitcher going 5 innings allowing 8 hits and 2 runs while striking out 11. Crompton got the final 3 outs for the save. Colton Tockstein pitched for Americana going 5 innings allowing 3 hits and 3 runs while striking out 8. Drake Rector worked the final inning.
Also for Minor League, Benny Bryan singled and scored twice, Nicholi Mahrenka also added a hit. In the loss for Americana, Rector had 2 hits with Owen Tennyson singling and scoring, Lance Nix tripled.
