In softball Minors City Series opening game last night, Dairy Queen took Game 1 over Landers 13-12. Ziva Owen’s pitched 3 innings giving up 5 hits and striking out 4. Gabby Goostree also came in to pitch an inning. DQ bats were hot with Jorja English having a big night with 4 hits and 3 RBI. Goosetree had 2 hits and drove in 2 with Gwen Goosetree, Elaina Dial, Tinsley Larson and Alaigha Hughes all drove in a run. For Landers, Maxyn Maciejowski had 2 hits and 2 runs while driving in 2, Abigail Westman had 2 hits and 2 runs with an RBI along with Samara Simmons, Hendrix Bratcher had 2 hits and also drove in a run.
In softball Major’s City Series action, Modern Woodman beat T&K Title 4-0. Reagan Shuler struck out 15 in the game.
Country Financial played Jeff Dunahee in the first round of the coach pitch post season tournament. Country Financial came away with a 10-4 victory. Levi Knapp, Reed Knapp and Benson Orrill were all 3 for 3 at the plate. Jake Alvis was 2 for 2 with a single and a double. Garrett Hunter, Peyton Etnier and Jace Alden were 2 for 3 at the plate. Greyson James and Ryder Gambill each had a single. Greyson James was the defensive player of the game turning an unassisted double play on a fly ball to record the final two outs of the game.
