The SC 13u Storm Chasers won 5 games over the span of 20 hours as they brought home the Quincy Wood Bat title beating the Mid-Co All-Stars in the championship 10-0. Luke Shumate earned the complete game win and was great on the mound. He didn’t allow a hit and struck out 6. SC got on top early with 3 runs in the opening inning, and ended it early when Avery Gullion sent a shot down the left field line on the first pitch he saw with the bases loaded to score 3 and send SC off with a 10-0 walk-off win. Gullion drove in 3 with 2 RBI from Hayden Prather and Boston Isaacs. Trent Ingram & Kaiden Harrell also drove in runs.
SC beat the Tennessee Revolution in the semifinal 5-3. Boston Isaacs threw the complete game striking out 4 and allowing just 3 runs. At the plate, Payton Gullion doubled going 2-2 with an RBI and run scored. Luke Shumate also had 2 hits and scored. SC got RBI from Prather, Garret Shumate and Isaacs.
SC opened elimination play on Sunday with a 7-4 win over the S.I. Elite. Payton Gullion gave up 1 run and 1 hit while striking out 7 in 2.1 innings of work. Prather earned the win going 4 innings allowing 2 hits and 2 earned runs with 6 ks. Garret Shumate got the final 2 outs for the save. Payton Gullion went 2-3 with 3 RBI, Avery Gullion drove in 2 and Trent Ingram also drove in a run.
SC won both pool play games late Saturday night beating the Elite 10-0 and the Dirtbags 7-1. SC is 24-9 overall this season with 5 tournament titles and will continue their season this weekend at the O’Fallon 4th of July Bash before taking a week off and ending their season the weekend of July 15-17 at the GMB World Series at Osage Beach.
