Kaskaskia Workshop, Inc. To Offer Summer Camps Throughout Centralia

Kaskaskia Workshop, Inc. located in Centralia has advocated for the general welfare of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in the agency’s service area for over fifty years.  The agency has always provided a complete program of services for adults with disabilities, and this year, we are hoping to expand our offerings to students by offering summer camps for the first time in our agency’s history.

Cathy Karrick, Business Development Manager for KWI says, “It is our hope to continue to foster and build relationships within our communities that will provide and allow students and adults with disabilities the opportunity to be an active member of their greater community including but not limited to recreation, arts and cultural experiences”.

Summer camp activities will include:

Punt, Pass and Kick

June 29 – 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Centralia High School Football Field

Coed Basketball Camp – 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

July 18, 20 & 22

Centralia Recreation Complex

Coed Volleyball Camp – 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

July 19 & 21

Centralia Recreation Complex

July 19 – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Art Project Camp – Unspoken Symphony

Students will turn their artwork into music

Kaskaskia Workshop

July 21 – 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Container Gardening – Pizza Garden

July 25-29 – 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Coed Pickle Ball

All camps are being offered free of charge thanks to a grant from Walmart and donations from Peoples National Bank and Winning Edge.  Camps are offered for students and adults with disabilities ranging in age from 16+ and all campers will receive a t-shirt.  Future camps will include theatre, soccer and more.

All staff assisting will be certified in CPR/First aid as well as being trained in crisis prevention, recognition, intervention, and reporting abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
