Marion County property tax bills are in the mail.
The total amount of Marion County Real Estate taxes billed for 2021 payable in 2022 is $40,527,909. That’s up three percent or $1,193,901 more than what was collected last year. In addition, another $2,107,670 in railroad taxes will be collected this year, up $254,000 over last year’s collection.
In all, 34,472 property tax bills have been mailed. The due date for the first installment is July 27th. The second installment is due September 27th.
You are asked to review your tax bill before payment or make sure you received your bill especially if you bought or sold a property, settled an estate, transferred property, or paid off a mortgage within the last year.
Due to construction at the courthouse, the Treasurer’s Office is temporarily located in Room 103 in the courthouse boardroom. If making payments at the courthouse, pleased be prepared for ongoing construction challenges, security screening, limited parking, and waiting in line during busy payment times due to remodeling.
Treasurer Gary Purcell says his staff is committed to serving taxpayers in the best manner possible during this collection season and through ongoing courthouse construction.
Payment options include mailing in your payment, paying at most local banks and credit unions, or using the drop box on the west side of the courthouse. If payers are using online bill pay from your checking account, please include the property index number with your payment. ACH checking account payments (e-checks) or credit/debit card payments are made online at ilmarion.com.
The treasurer’s office is open from eight am to four pm Monday through Friday to receive in-person payments.
