A number of local FFA members were honored for completion of their American and Illinois State FFA degrees at the state FFA convention being held this week in Springfield.
Winning the American FFA degree, the highest national degree achievable, were Salem High School members Rachel Donoho, Ella Douglas, and Anthony Wilkins and South Central members Evan Hoover, Wyatt Iler, and Keira Langley. The American FFA degree recognizes the most dedicated members in the country who demonstrated excellence with their supervised agricultural experience, provided outstanding leadership and community service and earned scholastic achievement throughout their FFA career.
Those earning the Illinois State FFA degree, the highest possible in the state of Illinois, were Salem Community High School members Martin Douglas, Hannah Duncan and Bailee Patten, South Central members Meagan Lotz and Kinlee Thompson, and Christ Our Rock members Evan Beal, Tommy Cox, Peyton Jett and Drew Lueking. The Illinois degree incudes a productive financial investments and earnings in a supervised agricultural experience and FFA participation, leadership and academic excellence. Less than two percent of members statewide earn this prestigious recognition.
Sandoval Middle School FFA members were honored for starting their chapter in the past year.
