The Salem Little League played games on Monday night, but due to the excessive heat during the day, the pushed back start times 30 minutes as well as shortened the time limit for games Monday as well as the rest of the week.
In Junior League at the Little League Complex, Elks beat Peoples 19-3. Brayden Wood threw a 5-inning complete game one-hitter with 13 strikeouts. At the plate, Tyree Wilborn went 3-4 with 3 RBI and a run, Landen Maxey went 4-5 with 3 runs scored and drove in 2, Jaret Gibson scored twice with 2 RBI, Jarrett Rushing scored 4 times. Max Vincent had 2 runs and 2 RBI, Curt Sullens scored twice and Jackson Green, Silas Lux and Anthony Wilborn all scored. For Peoples, Keytin Grawe, Cam Carmichael and Carson Huggins each scored.
Salem Tire beat Casey’s 10-5. Brenden Smith was the winning pitcher going 3.2 allowing 4 hits and 5 earned runs. Zane Dodson and Carter Lowe doubled with Lowe driving in 2. Riley Tate also drove in a run along with Caiden Beer. In the loss for Casey’s, Kyler King was the losing pitcher going 3 innings allowing 6 runs, but only 2 were earned. At the plate he went 2-3 with 2 runs and he also drove in another. Logan Butts added a hit and drove in 2. Evan Barnes also had a hit, run and RBI.
In Major’s Softball, Dairy Queen beat Bandy’s 11-10. Kenzie Collier had 3 hits and 3 RBI in the win. Jorja English had 3 hits and drove in 2, Eliana Dial drove in 2 runs on a single, Ziva Owen’s Tinsley Larson, Gwen Goostree all had a hit and drove in a run. In the loss for Bandy’s, Grace Rau had 2 hits and drove in a run along with Kinsley Gansauer, Ella Lee had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Lilliana Meyers doubled home a run, Allison Hartley had an RBI on 2 hits, and Emma Lee had 2h its and 2 RBI. Bailey Benzschawel struck out 2 in the circle and also had 2 hits and drove in a run.
Modern Woodmen beat Marion County Savings Bank 15-5. Quinn Wolfe had 7 strikeouts in the win.
