Illini Bluffs outlasted Casey Westfield in the 1a state softball championship played at the Louisville Slugger Stadium in Peoria winning 1-0 in nine innings. Forreston needed 8 innings to beat Newark in the 3rd place game 4-2.
Freeburg fell in the 2a state title game falling in 11 innings to Taylor Rockridge 5-4. In the 3rd place game it was Tolono Unity over Pontiac 7-2.
Today is 3a/4a Super Sectional days in prep softball. The 3a Millikin University Super Sectional will feature Highland and Mahomet Seymour. In 4a at Illinois Wesleyan it’s Edwardsville and West Aurora.
