CHICAGO (AP) — Paul Goldschmidt has continued his hitting streak.
The St. Louis Cardinals first baseman homered to extend his streak to 25 games while helping the Redbirds roll to a 14-5 rout of the Cubs. Goldschmidt smacked a three-run drive in the third for his 12th home run. The six-time All-Star closed in on his career-high 26-game hitting streak.
Corey Dickerson homered twice for the Cards, who also received round-trippers from Nolan Gorman and Lars Nootbaar in their fourth win in five games.

— Tyler Anderson extended his scoreless streak to 26 innings and became the first National League pitcher with seven wins as the Dodgers silenced the Mets for the second straight day, 6-1. Cody Bellinger, Zach McKinstry and Chris Taylor homered for the Dodgers, who have held New York to one run in winning the first two games of this four-game series between the NL’s top two teams. Pete Alonso went deep for the Mets, who had piled up 47 runs on a 6-0 homestand before arriving in Los Angeles.
— The Padres’ four-game skid is over after Joe Musgrove came within four outs of his second no-hitter in two seasons, leading a 7-0 shutout of the Brewers. Kolten Wong provided Milwaukee’s only hit with a two-out, eighth-inning double. Manny Machado hit a three-run homer for San Diego as Brewers starter Corbin Burnes was tagged for a season-high five runs in just 3 2/3 innings.
— The Giants belted a season-high five home runs in a 15-6 dismantling of the Marlins. Brandon Crawford hit his fifth career grand slam for San Francisco, which also had homers from Mike Yastrzemki, Joc Pederson, Thairo Estrada and Jason Vosler. Four of the home runs came off Miami reliever Elieser Hernández, who has surrendered a major league-high 18 home runs in 48 innings.
— Max Fried pitched eight scoreless innings and Matt Olson furnished a two-run single in the 10th inning to send the Braves past the Rockies, 3-1. It was just the second game in Coors Field history to be scoreless after nine. The Braves became the last team to win three in a row.
— Lane Thomas had a three-homer game for the first time in his career, leading the Nationals’ power surge in an 8-5 win over the Reds. The 26-year-old Thomas had a two-run homer in the third inning and solo shots in the fifth and seventh, lifting his season total to six. Nelson Cruz and Juan Soto also went deep for Washington.
— Rookie Alek Thomas hit two of the Diamondbacks’ five home runs and collected three RBIs in an 8-6 win over the Pirates. Ketel Marte homered for Arizona while extending his hitting streak to 15 games. Christian Walker and Jake McCarthy also connected for the DBacks.
— Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber each homered twice and the Phillies won in interim manager Rob Thomson’s debut, 10-0 over the Angels. Bryson Stott hit his first big league shot to help the Phils hand the Angels to their ninth straight loss, their worst skid since an 11-game drought in 2016. Zach Eflin scattered five hits and a walk over eight innings.
— The Blue Jays’ eight-game winning streak is over after Kyle Garlick and José Miranda each hit two home runs in the Twins’ 9-3 thumping of Toronto. Jharel Cotton and four fellow relievers combined for six no-hit innings after taking over for Chi Chi González. Byron Buxton also homered as Minnesota halted a three-game skid.
— A Yankees pitcher flirted with a perfect game for the second straight day as Gerrit Cole retired his first 20 hitters in the Yankees’ 13-0 thrashing of the Tigers. Jonathan Schoop spoiled Cole’s perfect night with a grounder that skipped up the middle, just past the mitt of diving second baseman DJ LeMahieu. Aaron Judge homered and had four hits for New York.
— The Red Sox opened a 10-game road trip with a 7-2 win at Oakland as Xander Bogaerts homered and drove in three runs. Bogaerts played in his 1,094th game at shortstop, surpassing the previous club mark at the position held by Everett Scott. Trevor Story hit a two-run double and Nathan Eovaldi fanned eight while pitching four-hit ball over six scoreless innings.
— Shane Bieber carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning and Owen Miller had four RBIs while the Guardians built a 6-0 lead in a 6-3 downing of the Orioles. Miller hit a two-run double in the first inning and a two-run single in the third. That was enough offense for Bieber, who struck out 11 and allowed two runs and three hits over six innings.
— Randy Arozarena’s sixth home run highlighted a four-run first inning that fueled the Rays’ 6-3 victory against the White Sox. Ji-Man Choi drove in three runs and Shane McClanahan won his fourth straight start, allowing two runs and six hits with eight strikeouts over six frames. Jose Abreu hit his seventh homer and extended his hitting streak to 12 games for Chicago, which has lost six of seven.
— Homers by Yordan Álvarez, Aledmys Díaz and Martín Maldonado highlighted the Astros’ fifth win in a row, 10-3 versus the Royals. Alvarez also had a pair of singles for his fifth straight multi-hit game. Díaz opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the second and added two singles as the Astros dealt Kansas City its 12th loss in 14 games.
— Eugenio Suárez belted a two-run homer in the ninth inning off closer Joe Barlow to give the Mariners a 4-3 win over the Rangers. Suárez’s throwing error at third base sparked a two-run sixth that got the Rangers even at 2. Barlow’s first blown save in 18 chances allosed SEattle to move to 5-2 since dropping a season-worst nine games under .500.
