In prep softball state final fours at the Louisville Slugger Park in Peoria in Class 1a, Casey Westfield is into the state finals after a 4-0 shutout win over Forreston. They will play at 11:30 against Illini Bluffs after their 8-3 win over Newark. The 3rd place game starts at 9am this morning.
The Freeburg Lady Midgets will play for the state 2a championship after their 9-0 victory over Tolono Unity. They will play at 3:30 this afternoon against Taylor Rockridge who beat Pontiac 5-3 in their semifinal. That 3rd place game starts at 1.
Last night in Sectional 3a championships, Highland outlasted Marion 4-3 in 9-innings. They advance to play at the Millikin University Super Sectional on Monday against Mahomet Seymour after their win over Chatham Glenwood 5-4 in 8-innings at Mt Zion.
In 4a, Edwardsville needed just 6-innings to beat Bradley Bourbonnais at Pekin 10-0. They will play Monday at Illinois Wesleyan against West Aurora who won the Yorkville Sectional over Neuqua Valley 2-0.
