The Cahokia Conference will be represented at the 2a softball state finals as well after Freeburg knocked of Pinckneyville 3-0 at the Johnston City Super Sectional. The Lady Midgets will play in the 2nd semifinal on Friday at the Louisville Slugger Complex in Peoria when they play Tolono Unity at 5:30. The first semifinal will be at 3pm featuring Taylor Rockridge and Pontiac.
In 1a Super Sectionals at Johnston City, Casey Westfield advanced to the Final Four with a 3-1 win over Trico. They will play at 12:30 on Friday in Peoria against Forreston. The first state semifinal of the day will be at 10am with Newark and Illini Bluffs.
In 3a sectionals today, Centralia is the site for Triad and Marion this afternoon at 4:30. At Mt Zion, the hosts take on Chatham Glenwood followed by Mahomet Seymour and Springfield.
Today in 4a softball sectional semifinals, Belleville East takes on Edwardsville in the Pekin Sectional in a game that will be played at Belleville West. The winner will play either Plainfield South or Bradley Bourbonnais in the title game.
