A miscue with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning spelled doom for the SC Cougars who fell to the North Clay Cardinals 5-1 in their 1a regional championship at Louisville. Aidan Dodson got the scoring going early with a solo home run in the opening inning to give SC a 1-0 lead. North Clay answered with a run in the fourth and then scored 4 unearned runs in the sixth to grab the lead, the Cougars defense made 4 errors in the game. Dodson finished allowing just 2 hits and 0 earned runs. Donnie Zimmerman was the winning pitcher for the Cardinals going 6.2 allowing 7 hits and 1 earned run. Carson Burkett got the final out. For the Cougars at the plate, Ethan Watwood had 2 hits. North Clay will play tomorrow afternoon at St Anthony against Okaw Valley.
Christ Our Rock won the Carlyle 1a regional beating Mulberry Grove 5-0. Jayden Bazile went 2-4 with a double and a run, Brayden Such added 2 hits including a double, 2 runs and a RBI, Parker Boehne and Omari King added hits for the Stallions. Colton Oelze was the complete game winner allowing 2 hits and struck out 5.
Also in 1a regional title games, St Anthony won the Altamont Regional beating St Elmo/Brownstown 3-1, Windsor beat Casey at Casey 3-0.
