A semi-loaded with liquid deicer overturned on its side on the Route 37 exit from Interstate 64 on the south side of Mt. Vernon Friday afternoon.
Jefferson Fire Protection District officials say the semi apparently came off the ramp too fast causing the truck to flip on its side. The driver refused medical treatment.
The Illinois Department of Transportation was called to dig a hole to contain the deicer until a cleanup crew could arrive on the scene.
The crash occurred around one Friday afternoon.
State Police have not yet released reports on the crash.
