UNDATED (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers still haven’t lost since ending a four-game skid last Sunday.
Freddie Freeman singled three times and had two RBIs in the Dodgers’ sixth consecutive win, 4-1 versus the Phillies. Julio Urías pitched five shutout innings and the Dodgers blanked Philadelphia until J.T. Realmuto’s RBI double with two out in the ninth. The late hit ended the Phils’ 21-inning scoreless drought.
Ranger Suarez lasted just three innings, allowing three runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
Elsewhere around the majors:
— Manny Machado hit a tiebreaking double in the 10th inning and the Padres won in manager Bob Melvin’s return, holding off the Giants, 8-7. Jake Cronenworth homered, Wil Myers doubled in two late runs and the Padres recovered after blowing leads of 4-1 and 6-4. Darin Ruf homered twice for San Francisco, which has dropped four of six.
— Eric Lauer worked seven innings and the Brewers overcame a triple play to whip the Nationals, 7-0. Rowdy Tellez broke a scoreless tie with a two-run homer in the sixth inning. Michael Taylor had a three-run homer and Hunter Renfroe delivered a two-run single as the Brewers broke the game open in the eighth.
— Adam Wainwright pitched seven innings of one-run ball to extend his domination of Pittsburgh and lead the Cardinals past the Pirates, 5-3. Wainwright has won 10 straight decisions against the Pirates and gone 19 starts since last losing to Pittsburgh in the 2016 season opener. Yadier Molina singled home a pair during the Redbirds’ four-run sixth.
— Marcell Ozuna homered for the third consecutive game, while Dansby Swanson and Travis d’Arnaud also went deep for the Braves in their 5-3 decision over the Marlins. Ronald Acuña Jr. had two hits and stole a base in his first game in Atlanta since suffering a season-ending knee injury there last July 10. Braves starter and winner Charlie Morton pitched 5 1/3 innings of three-run ball.
— Arizona and Chicago combined for 11 home runs before the Diamondbacks completed a 10-6 win over the Cubs. Josh Rojas launched his first three longballs of the season and David Peralta furnished two of the Diamondbacks’ seven homers. Arizona also received round-trippers from Alek Thomas and Christian Walker in winning its second straight since a six-game losing streak.
— Houston’s nine-game home winning streak is over after Martín Pérez tossed a seven-hitter in the Rangers’ 3-0 shutout of the Astros. Pérez has won his third straight start and has allowed one run or fewer in five of his last six starts. Kole Calhoun gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead in the fourth with a solo home run to left.
— Seth Brown hit a go-ahead home run in the fifth inning as the Athletics handed the Angels their fourth straight loss, 4-2. Jed Lowrie also went deep and scored two runs for Oakland, which had dropped four of five. Anthony Rendon had two hits and drove in a run for the Angels.
— Trevor Story belted a grand slam and Jackie Bradley Jr. added a three-run shot as the Red Sox topped the Mariners, 7-3. Story’s fourth home run in two games landed above the Green Monster and into the hands of former Boston player Jonny Gomes. Boston has won seven of 10 since a season-high, five-game skid.
— The Orioles got a walk-off homer for the second straight game as Rougned Odor belted a two-run shot that completed an 8-6 win over the Rays. The Rays led 5-3 in the 10th before Anthony Santander laced a two-run double, one day after slamming a game-ending, three-run homer versus the Yankees. Tampa Bay also led in the 11th and still lost to Birds for the first time in their last 14 meetings.
— The Blue Jays earned a 2-1 win over the Reds as Hyun Jin Ryu pitched six shutout innings to earn his first victory of the season. Ryu surrendered five doubles and one single, lowering his ERA from 9.00 to 6.00. Toronto broke a scoreless tie in the fifth when George Springer hit an RBI single and scored on Bo Bichette’s double.
— Kyle Garlick and Jose Miranda each drove in two runs, leading Devin Smeltzer and the Twins past the Royals, 6-4. Garlick put Minnesota on the scoreboard with an RBI single in a three-run first and Miranda had two hits, including a two-run double in the eighth. Smeltzer allowed one run and five hits over 5 1/3 innings, throwing 74 pitches in his second major league start this season.
— José Ramírez hit a three-run homer and a triple in the Guardians’ 6-1 downing of the Tigers. Ramirez was playing a day after taking a foul ball off his right shin, forcing him from the game. Detroit starter Tarik Skubal extended his scoreless innings streak to 19 but left the game after being struck on the leg by a line drive after pitching five frames.
— A winter storm warning caused the postponement of the Mets-Rockies game in Colorado. A split doubleheader is now scheduled for Saturday, but snow is in the morning forecast and gametime temperatures for Game 2 are expected to be in the low 30s.
— The Yankees and White Sox will try to play two on Sunday in New York after Friday’s game was rained out.
