All counties in South Central Illinois remain at the low level for COVID-19 for the past week, but 14 counties in parts of Central and Northern Illinois now have a medium community level.
Statewide, there were 30,633 new COVID-19 cases reported last week along with 58 additional deaths.
In Marion County, the CDC COVID tracker reports 13 new cases through the week ending on Saturday. There were four new hospitalizations. Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow reports the county went another week without a death or congregate-care facility being placed on outbreak status.
In Jefferson County, there were 19 new cases of COVID-19 reported along with one new hospitalization.
In Clinton County, 23 new cases were reported with one new hospitalization.
In Washington County, 10 new cases were reported with one new hospitalization.
There were 14 new cases in Fayette County with no new hospital admissions.
Both Wayne and Clay County have less than 10 new cases and no new hospitalizations.
Statewide on Thursday, there were 808 in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 66 patients were in the ICU and 24 were on ventilators. The 14 counties now at Medium Community Level are Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Will, and Winnebago Counties in northeast Illinois and Sangamon, Champaign, Douglas, Logan, and McLean Counties in the central part of the state.
