The Centralia Business and Professional Women’s organization celebrated its 95th birthday during a dinner last night that recognized their past members and activities.
Four Presidents outlined a long list of programs they have been involved past and present as well as fun activities. Bev Virobik served as President in 1985-86.
“2022 is our 95th year and what beautiful friendships have been formed and a wonderful heritage we have. Centralia BPW will continue to be a leader with dedicated members that care and show it by helping the community with programs, community service projects and educational support by granting scholarships each year. I have been a member of 42 years and have loved every minute of it.”
Other Past Presidents sharing the clubs history were Lorraine Bassett, Brenda Chesnek and Cary Day.
Current President Carrie Perkins-Schnicker wrote a poem to conclude the program after spending several days going through the PBW scrapbooks from throughout the years.
“Through the darkest shines the light. The light of a 1000 candles glowing, rising together to spotlight this moment. This minute, this memory, this magnificent dream of those who have set the stage for women who have come together to make change in our hearts, homes, history. And even in the darkness and challenges we face everyday, we are the light.”
Perkins-Schnicker noted how proud she was of the organization for continuing their service even through the COVID years when many activities were cancelled.
Past Presidents dated back to 1926 were remembered for their work by Past President Melodie Ainslie. Past Presidents in attendance were recognized for their service.
