Marion County drops to “moderate” category for COVID-19 cases

The CDC Covid-19 tracker reports Marion County had only 16 new or probable COVID-19 cases during the week ending Saturday. That has allowed the county to drop two levels to a “moderate” rate of infection with a rate of 43 per 100,000 people. The drop in new cases was 58-percent over the prior week. There were two new hospitalizations reported.

Clay County now is listed as “good” with less than ten new cases during the week and one new hospitalization.

Fayette County joined Marion County in the moderate category with under ten new cases, a drop of 60-percent in the past week. The county had no new hospitalizations.

Clinton County had 30 new cases for the week, a jump of 50-percent. The rate of infection is at 80 per 100,000 people which puts the county in the substantial category. There were two new hospitalizations.

Jefferson County had 28 new cases, a ten percent drop. With an infection rate of 74 per 100,000 it is also in the substantial category. Two new hospitalizations were reported during the week.

Washington County had less than ten new cases and one new hospitalization and is currently in the moderate category.

Wayne County had 14 new cases, a drop of 33 percent. It is in the substantial category with an infection rate of 86 per 100,000 people. There was one new hospitalization.
