Marion County Health Department announces four more deaths of COVID-19 positive residents

The Marion County Health Department has announced the death of four more COVID-19 positive residents.

They include two females in their 70s, one who was vaccinated and one who was not, a female in her 80s who was not vaccinated, and a male in his 60s who was vaccinated.   All were in the hospital at the time of their death.  None were long-term care residents.

The four deaths bring the total number of deaths in Marion County from COVID-19 positive residents to 211.

Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow has also announced eight Marion County congregate care facilities are in outbreak status.    She notes none of the facilities has a large number of positives and some don’t have any cases currently but haven’t completed 28 days of being COVID-19 free.    Mallow says most of the cases at the facilities have been in employees.

Meanwhile, the Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 13,028 new confirmed and probable cases of the coronavirus disease during the week ending on Friday.   There were 355 additional deaths.  The Statewide positivity rate as a percent of total tests has fallen to 1.8-percent.     76-percent of Illinois’ total population has had at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, 64 percent of the total population is fully vaccinated and 49-percent are boosted according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
