The Central City Village Board has a new member. Retired police officer Tom Cagle was approved by the board Monday night to replace Charles Mattmiller who earlier resigned.

The board approved a proposal by Ameren to replace the tennis lights in Lion’s Park with new LED lights at no cost.

Central City elected not to go along with a proposal from Centralia for new electronics for the tornado warning siren that would allow Centralia Police Dispatch to activate the siren.

Central City, which recently installed a new siren, will rely on Marion County ESDA to activate the siren.

At the recommendation of the auditor, village clerk Karlie Patten was appointed to also serve as collector.

Four candidates will be interviewed for the Public Works Director position at Central City. The person hired will replace John Johnston who earlier retired.

The board approved making needed repairs to the salt spreader.
