New COVID-19 cases increased five percent in Marion County for the week ending on Friday. The 151 new cases put the county’s positivity rate at 450 per 100,000. That’s four and a half times the level to get into the high category at the top of the scale for COVID cases per capita. There were 23 new hospitalizations in Marion County last week.
The CDC COVID-19 tracker placed the highest infection rate in the region in Clay County where 121 new cases put the level at 991 per 100,000. That’s down one percent from last week. 26 new hospitalizations were reported during the week.
The lowest infection rate was in Washington County. There were 34 new cases last week and an infection rate of 245 per 100,000. The number of cases dropped 13 percent during the week.
Clinton County saw a 22-percent jump in cases to 122 cases for a positivity rate of 449 per 100,000.
Jefferson County is reporting 122 new cases for a rate of 324 cases per 100,000. That’s an increase of five percent over last week. There were 12 new hospital admissions reported over the week.
Fayette County had 87 cases for a rate of 408 per 100,000. That’s down 19-percent over the prior week. There were 15 new hospitalizations.
Wayne County reported 51 new cases for an infection rate of 315 per 100,000. Cases dropped 26-percent over the prior week. There was one new hospital admission.
Every county in the state of Illinois is back in the high category, the highest rate of infection on the scale.
