Salem Police arrested three Saturday night for alleged retail theft at the Salem Walmart Store.
Police were initially called to the store about a single shoplifter just before seven Saturday night. While they were taking 29-year-old Kandace Dagg of Mills Crossing into custody, they were called to another part of the store where asset protection had stopped two others from attempting to leave without paying for most of their items.
Salem Police arrested 18-year-old Garth Morgan and 19-year-old Gaberielle Riddle of North 17th in Mt. Vernon for felony retail theft because the number of items being taken was valued at more than $300. Police say they had allegedly paid for a few items in their cart before attempting to leave with the entire cart full of items.
Morgan and Riddle were taken to the Marion County Jai to await a decision on the filing of formal charges. Dagg was given a notice to appear in court.
